I stared using an electric razor right at the time Braun released the Syncro. The Syncro shaved fast, smooth, and quick, with little irritation, though it was a bit rough, especially on my upper lip. I shaved with this razor happily for many years.

Always looking to improve, I would try each new top of the line Braun razor that came out after the Syncro, including the Activator, 360, and Pulsonic, all of which were terrible and I would go back to the Syncro. As near as I could tell these razors were lacking because of the crazy blue center cutter with very sharp edges – the shave was not close at all and would cause my cheek’s to break out in red bumps which would not go away even after more than a month of shaving.

Then a few years ago Braun came out with the 390cc, a good looking razor that for the first time shaved as close as the Syncro, but more comfortably – they did away with the crazy blue center strip and improved in other ways I’m sure. Strangely this model was the 3rd down the Braun shaver line, but shaved significantly better than the top of the line Pulsonic. I secretly wished that Braun would take the great shaver head on the 390cc and apply it to the Pulsonic, I would be happy to pay more for the extra bells and whistles.

Sure enough, the 790cc-4 (the “-4″ is most important!) has a similar head to the 390cc, only the 790 is a better all around razor. It’s more powerful than the 390cc so you get a faster, smoother shave, yet is very close and every bit as comfortable. It also works very well in difficult areas such as under the ears and on the neck (I suffer from difficulty shaving my neck which is all but cured with this razor). I can safely say this is the worlds best electric razor!

The cleaning base is very easy to use and more than worth the cost of the cleaning cartridges which free you from having to clean the razor yourself, you can lock the shaver head for hard to reach areas of your face (though I never have found a real need to lock it), there are sensitivity settings (this really works, not a gimmick, though I just leave it in the normal middle position), you can wash the head with soft soap while traveling (haven’t had the opportunity to try this yet but a welcome feature that was also on the 390cc), the pop out trimmer is more than acceptable, and the overall design it terrific.

Its like driving a Porsche across your face, shaving is fun again. I’m so impressed I’ve also bought one for my father.
